Semantics Service/ Ontology
A Semantics Service or Ontology Service, provides standardized vocabularies, taxonomies, or ontologies to ensure consistent and interoperable data descriptions. Mostly these services are called terminology services, e.g. in the framework of the BASE4NFDI. By offering structured terms and relationships for describing data, this service enables users to annotate datasets in a way that is consistent across the community, facilitating better data integration, search, and analysis. For example, it might include controlled vocabularies for specific terms or an ontology representing relationships between entities in a domain.
