The NFDI4Earth Living Handbook - Our Mission, Your Knowledge Platform
The NFDI4Earth Living Handbook is a curated, community-driven open online compendium on all aspects of research data management and data science in the Earth System Sciences (ESS). Created and maintained as part of the NFIDI4Earth initiative, it aims to encourage and support FAIR and open research data management. It is intended to be a continuously growing tailor-made knowledge platform for data management in the ESS, which is open to everyone, and will - thanks to a professional curation - be getting regularly renewed along the organisational, methodological and technical progress anticipated for the near future.
The Living Handbook shall address the needs of various target user groups having different prior knowledge and interests, from experts in data management and service providers to regular data users.
Though we ask for articles providing relevant knowledge in a concise manner, there are very few formal requirements to be met: brief articles with rather informal content will be considered as well as articles providing comprehensive and detailed information. We encourage the ESS community members to provide content on all levels and to all aspects of the data life cycle. We strive for the Living Handbook to be a truely living library with up-to-date information that evolves in a collaborative effort to address the needs of the ESS community.
